Neuseelands Rugby-Frauen haben zum vierten Mal in Folge die Weltmeisterschaft gewonnen. Die „Black Ferns“ setzten sich in einer Neuauflage des Vorjahres-Endspiels mit 13:10 (7:0) gegen Gastgeber England durch.

Die Britinnen haben damit bereits zum dritten Mal in Folge ein WM-Finale gegen Neuseeland verloren. 9:19 hieß es 2002 aus englischer Sicht, 17:25 vier Jahre später. Diesmal war es wesentlich knapper, doch am Ende jubelten erneut die Neuseeländerinnen – obwohl sie aufgrund von drei Zeitstrafen insgesamt 30 Minuten in Unterzahl spielten.
